About
My Alchemy Within is for people who feel overwhelmed, wired, or shut down, and want a gentler way through. The focus is nervous system regulation and emotional healing through body-based, trauma-informed practices, looking at what is happening underneath stress, anxiety, and exhaustion, and how to meet it safely.
The meaning behind it
Alchemy was the ancient practice of turning base metal into gold. Alchemy Within carries the same idea inward. The stress your body holds, the emotions you carry, the tension that builds in your nervous system, none of it has to stay as it is.
Through small, repeatable practices, you work with what's already inside you and change its form. The gold was never somewhere else. It's in you.
The approach
Most of us are taught to handle feelings in the head. Reframe the thought, change the mindset, keep going. That can help, though it tends to reach only so far.
The work here speaks the nervous system's language: rhythm, sensation, safety, and consistency. It pairs that with gentle emotional work, so the feelings underneath have somewhere to go too.
Why this exists
I started My Alchemy Within after years of trying to think my way out of anxiety and overwhelm. I read the books and tried the affirmations, and I kept pushing through, but none of it held for long.
What helped was learning to work with my body instead of against it, and giving the emotions underneath somewhere to go. This space exists so that kind of understanding feels easy to reach, not locked behind expensive programs or heavy jargon.
The person behind it
My Alchemy Within is written and run by one person. Lauren Sweeney is the founder and the writer behind everything here: the articles, the guides, and the practices.
Her work is research-informed and plain-language by design. Articles draw on published studies, link to their sources, and name the limits of the evidence honestly. All of it is shaped by her own lived experience with an easily overwhelmed nervous system.
She is not a therapist, and nothing on this site is medical or mental health advice. It's education and self-support, and it works best alongside professional care whenever professional care is needed.
Who this is for
A lot of people find this work while carrying stress that sits in the body more than the mind, anxiety that doesn't respond to logic, or long stretches of shutdown and exhaustion. Many feel worse when they try to relax or meditate, and most are quietly looking for support that feels safe.
