EFT is a somatic practice that pairs gentle tapping on acupressure points with focused attention on what you're feeling. It sends a calming signal to your amygdala, the part of your brain that sounds the alarm, so your body can shift from survival mode back into safety.
Tapping on meridian points sends a deactivation signal to your amygdala, lowering cortisol and bringing your nervous system back toward baseline.
By combining physical stimulation with emotional presence, tapping helps your body release what your mind alone can't work through.
With practice, tapping creates new associations between old triggers and felt safety, gently rewiring how your body responds over time.
You don't need to know how to tap perfectly. Just start where your body is right now.
Not the story, the sensation. Where do you feel it? Tight chest, heavy stomach, clenched jaw. Name the feeling in your body.
On a scale of 0 to 10, how strong is this right now? Don't overthink it. Your first number is usually the right one.
Tap the side of your hand (karate chop point) and say: "Even though I feel [this], I'm here with myself anyway." Three times. That's it.
5 to 7 gentle taps on each: eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, under arm, top of head. Stay with the feeling.
One deep breath. Check your number again. Repeat if needed. Notice what shifted in your body, your breath, the weight of it.
"Even though my body feels tight and my thoughts won't slow down, I'm choosing to be here with myself anyway."
Eyebrow: "This tightness in my chest"
Side of eye: "It's been here all day"
Under eye: "I notice it without needing to fix it"
Under nose: "My body is holding something"
Chin: "I don't have to carry it all right now"
Collarbone: "Letting my body know it's safe here"
Under arm: "I'm here. That's enough."
Top of head: "Letting this soften, even a little"
If your mind feels busy or your body feels tense, this is a simple place to start. You can follow along and tap at your own pace. No experience needed.
